 | Acolytes |
Third to 5th grade children (age 8 by September) are eligible for the Acolyte Ministry.
Acolytes participate in the worship service by carrying a processional cross or crucifix, lighting and extinguishing the altar candles, and ringing the church bell to call the congregation to worship.
The lighting of the altar candles in the worship service is a symbol of Jesus' coming into the presence of the worshiping community. The relighting of the candles at the end of the service symbolizes that Jesus Christ is for all people everywhere. It also symbolizes the light of Jesus Christ going out into the world where believers are called to serve.

Our next training session is coming up on Wednesdays at 4pm. Acolytes need to attend the overview class as well as one on Baptism and Communion.
