Kessler Park UMC, like many Methodist churches, baptizes with the sprinkling of water. Though a variety of methods are used at Methodist churches around the world, including pouring and immersion.

Do I have to be re-baptized to join the Methodist Church or Kessler Park UMC?

No, you do not have to be re-baptized to join our denomination or church. It can only be received once, but its effects are everlasting. Any Christian baptism is recognized by the United Methodist Church.

Why are all Christian baptisms recognized?
We believe baptism represents the active grace and saving love of God. The efficacy of baptism is from God, not humans; thus we believe that your Christian baptism, wherever and however it was performed, was completed in full by God and does not need to be repeated.

May I request a specific pastor to baptize me or my child?
Yes, you may request a specific pastor for baptism.

How do I start the process to be baptized? Who do I contact?
Please contact Pastors David Carr, Charles Harrison, or Katie Webb through the church office (214.942.0098) or the office manager, Ken Surley.
