KPUMC member David Spence, of GoodSpace, has received the 2011 Ruth Chenowith Conservation Achievement Award for his work on Eighth Street from the Old Oak Cliff Conservation League.

The Page Turners Sunday School Class took a day off from their normal reading schedule to help the Children's Department with their Socks of Love Christmas missions project. Class members stuffed socks with a variety of travel sized toiletries, snacks, and candy canes.

The GenerationNEXT class gathered after Sunday worship to put up the Kessler Park UMC Christmas tree. The group also enjoyed hanging wreaths and other Christmas decor around the sanctuary. Following the tree trimming, they headed to Bolsa for brunch!

The Homemakers & Service Class joined with GenerationNEXT for a joint breakfast and time of sharing. The younger adults of GenerationNEXT got to meet many long time members of Kessler Park UMC, and hear stories from years past. The funniest story goes to Michael Van Amburgh, who nearly got carried away in a port-a-potty.

Former Youth Pastor Allison Marino and her husband Fernando had a beautiful baby girl on September 12th. Betty Ann Marino weighed 7lbs 8ounces and 20 inches long! Both mom and dad feel amazingly blessed with their new gift from God.

Continuing visitor and GenerationNEXT member Kim Risner joined Kessler Park UMC on Sunday, July 10th. Kim lives nearby on Clinton in the Kings Highway Conservation District and keeps busy with exercising, writing, mixed medium arts, voluntering with Dallas Habitat for Humanity. New to Dallas, Kim has plans for a career change as well as building a new life in the Dallas area. Kim shares, "A big part of this Texas journey is making certain I am spiritually well-balanced. I look forward to being a member of Kessler Park United Methodist Church and a part of the GenerationNEXT group."

Continuing visitor and GenNEXTer Kate Naumes is a Naturopathic doctor teaching a number of classes and workshops at Oil & Cotton.

Dr. Naumes' focus is on women's health, fertility, and childbirth. She can be found online and through Facebook.

John Spencer Mustin, son of Eric & Gay Mustin, auditioned and was accepted into the nationally acclaimed Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas (CCGD). This choir, which was founded in 1996 and is for grades 4-12, performs regularly at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. John Spencer was selected for this advanced Concert II Chorus choir on his first audition, which is quite an honor!

GenerationNEXT members Catherine Dodge & Michael Reagan serve as Board Members of FIDO Oak Cliff, who is seeking to bring a dog park to north Oak Cliff. They have successfully recruited other GenNEXTers to the cause, including Mike Walker, Oscar Brown, and Traci & Betsy Dorman! Their next Pop Up Pooch Park is Saturday, June 18th from 9am-2pm at the Sylvan Thirty Farmer's Market.
